Welcome

About Our Church

Jevington is a small parish with a small church but we extend a big welcome to all who visit St Andrew’s. Our church is here for everyone as a place of calm in our busy world where you can sit and reflect and pray or join in our Sunday worship.

Our worship reflects the fact that we try to meet the needs of all who live in the parish. We have just one regular service each Sunday morning. So, we offer a range of services to provide something for everyone; young and old, those familiar with services and those less familiar or attending for the first time. Everyone is welcomed and valued.

There are two traditional Prayer Books services a month, Holy Communion and Morning Prayer and two of the new Common Worship services including a Sung Parish Commuinion.

We also recognise the need for a more informal, simplified service. Parish Praise is family friendly but suitable for all ages and particularly those who feel more comfortable with this style of worship. Music at all services if led by the choir. Coffee is served after Parish Praise.

Many see St. Andrew's Church for the first time whilst walking the South Downs Way, which passes close beside the church. We actively encourage walkers to come in and join our Sunday services. Seats are positioned in the churchyard providing the perfect place to rest and just enjoy the wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Please see the Home Page for details of the monthly pattern of services.
Jevington is part of the United Benefice of East Dean with Friston and Jevington. The Rector Rev Ian Smale lives at East Dean. Weekly services are held, in all three of these ancient downland churches, by the Rector assisted by the Parochial Readers, Sue Smale and Tony Rogers and a number of retired clergy in the benefice.
Please see the Link with East Dean & Friston for details of their services.
